Explore your feelings in 8 steps (1 minute read)
This post “Increase your self-esteem by exploring your feelings in 8 steps” continues with how you can increase your self-esteem by getting to know yourself.
Explore your feelings in 8 steps:
To be able to ‘get rid’ of a feeling it first has to be heard by you because that is the purpose of the feeling.
If feelings are not heard, they often linger, get stored in the body and can also become psychosomatic symptoms, psychological symptoms or even disorders such as anxiety and depression.
The way a feeling can get heard is by the 8 steps introduced in the last post.
An example of how to explore feelings in 8 steps:
Step 1 and 2: I feel scared
Step 3: My body is trembling, my heart is racing, my throat is tight, my gut is about to revolt
Step 4: The fear level is 8
Step 5: because I got this hostile message
Step 6: I want to hide
Step 7: which is quite understandable, anybody would react like this
Step 8: but I have to confront this fear since I cannot let fear run my life and stop me from doing what is important in my life. I will start by talking to him with support from my friend.
