Validate your feelings in 8 steps (1 minute read)
This post “Increase your self-esteem by validating your feelings in 8 steps” continues with how you can increase your self-esteem by getting to know yourself.
Validate your feelings in 8 steps:
If you want to ‘get rid’ of a feeling it first has to be heard by you because that is the purpose of the feeling. The way a feeling can get heard is by using 8 steps.
Try this:
Use the following 8 steps to validate each of your feelings:
1Notice the feeling
2Name the feeling
3 Identify where you experience the feeling your body
4Evaluate how strong the feeling is on a scale 1 to 10
5 Understand the reason why you are having the feeling – what triggered the feeling
6 Listen to what the feeling motivates you to do
7 Decide on if the feeling is a genuine feeling or reaction to another feeling or a defence mechanism
8 Decide on what is wise to do including the consequences of reacting directly versus delaying your reaction
