Here is an example of how anger can be transformed into healthy self-assertion.<\/p>\n

Examples of the 8 steps:<\/h2>\n

1 Note the anger: I notice that I am feeling uneasy<\/em><\/p>\n

2 Name the anger: I am actually angry<\/em><\/p>\n

3 Feel the anger in the body: I \u200b\u200bfeel tense and I am clenching my fists<\/em><\/p>\n

4 How strong is the anger: 6<\/em><\/p>\n

5 Understand the reason: I am angry because they went behind my back<\/em><\/p>\n

6 What does the anger spontaneously want you to do: I want to hit someone, but of course I do not intend to do that \u2013 it is just the anger’s spontaneous impulse to act<\/em><\/p>\n

7 Understand if anger is a real feeling: I am understandably both angry and hurt for what they have done to me<\/em><\/p>\n

8 Transform the anger into healthy self-assertion: I am angry that they let me down. I wonder if they understand how it feels. I will think about whether I want to confront them or just let it pass.<\/em><\/p>\n
