This post summarizes the 3 types of shame. Shame is an innate feeling. Shame is often expressed as humiliation with the head bent down. There are different types of shame which correspond to activating different levels of helpful\/ unhelpful behaviours which in turn impact our wellbeing.<\/p>\n

3 types of shame:<\/strong><\/h2>\n

1 Shame is a primary feeling helping us to make important and necessary adjustments in our views and behaviours in order to be accepted in our preferred group<\/p>\n


2 Shame as a defense mechanism when we irrationally fear the rejection from important others pushing our true emotions away, which instead produce psychological symptoms, compensatory performance drives etc.\u00a0<\/p>\n

3 Shame as an erroneous definition of self, reducing one\u2019s worth to a single event: \u201cI did something wrong = I am wrong\u201d instead of \u201cUnfortunately it went wrong \u2013 sorry for that but it can happen to us all\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
