Handle feelings by writing about important life events (1 minute read)
This post “Increase your self-esteem – handle feelings by writing about important life events” continues with how you can increase your self-esteem by getting to know yourself.
Handle feelings by writing about important life events:
Feelings need to be heard or they can turn into physical or psychological symptoms. Hearing your feelings can also give you important insights and emotional closure.
One way of reconnecting with your feelings is by writing about the 5 to 10 of your most important life events.
Try this:
List your 5 to 10 most important life events.
Write about:
- What happened
- Where it happened
- Who was involved
- What triggered the event
- What were the consequences for you and the other persons involved
- How it made you feel and why
- How it makes you feel now and the associated needs and reactions that emerge, including what you would like to happen.
It is important to accept all feelings that emerge without shame or judgement.
Instead, acknowledge the reason for every emotion that occur, if understandable, or otherwise just accept the feelings as they are.
