Increase your self-esteem by challenging the inner critic (1 minute read)
This post Increase your self-esteem by challenging the inner critic continues with how you can increase your self-esteem. You can do this by being careful with how you talk to yourself.
This is of great importance for your mental health and developing a healthy self-esteem, but more difficult than it seems.
How to challenge the inner critic
It is very important to always talk back to negative claims about yourself since they otherwise can undermine your belief in yourself.
Another reason to challenge the inner critic is that we are not our actions. An act is only a very small part of what we are and the situations we end up in are also affected by others and by factors beyond our control.
At the same time, it is important to be receptive to feedback. But self-critical people with a strong inner critic are already aware of this to an extreme extent.
The toughest you should be towards yourself when you want to learn from events is to say:
“This X I did well, Next time I’ll think about Y.”
