Increase your self-esteem by validating yourself (1 minute read)
This post continues with how you can feel better during this crisis by developing both your self-esteem and your self-confidence. The latest posts have been about how you can use mirroring to enhance your self-esteem, among other things, by reading your positive traits aloud to yourself.
Increase your self-esteem by validating yourself
How did you feel when you read your positive traits to yourself and looked yourself in the eyes?
If you have not tried this yet, I suggest you do it right now by switching to selfie mode, look yourself in the eyes and say to yourself aloud some of the positive traits you have.
This may feel awkward at first because we are often not used to validating ourselves in this way.
If it felt uncomfortable to look yourself in the eyes, this may be a sign that you have not received enough validation from your close ones. If so, I suggest you keep doing this until it feels natural.
It will not turn you into a narcissist. That is not how it works.
I suggest you do this as a daily exercise until you no longer feel awkward but proud.
