This post “Increase your self-esteem by evaluating your feelings ” continues with how you can increase your self-esteem by getting to know yourself.
Increase your self-esteem by evaluating your feelings:
There are many important dimensions with regard to feelings as sources of information. As with all information we have to evaluate the level of truth, the probability and the quality of the information that triggered the feeling.
If we are scared of spiders and we see one we will get highly aroused by fear and move briskly away from it even if it is a kind of spider that is not dangerous.
If we think that spiders are interesting animals we might feel curious and move closer to see the colouring and fine details of the spider and the web.
Try this:
Next time you get scared, evaluate:
-What is the danger?
-Is it in fact dangerous or just a risk?
-What are the chances that the risk turns into a real danger?
-Are my reaction proportionate – would the majority of people react in the same way?
