There are many good reasons to keep a diary. Among other things, it helps you gain perspective and new insights. Writing a diary also improves your ability to access your inner creativity and problem solving.


Try this:

Try to write three pages in an A5 diary by hand for a month.

You will probably experience that you have gotten to know yourself on a deeper level.

You will most likely get a better effect if you write in the morning immediately after you wake up because then you are closer to your subconscious / dream world.

Hence, it is more likely that you write about your feelings, dreams and hopes, instead of reporting you day and related events.

When writing, do not censor yourself. Ignore critical comments from your inner voice. Do not think about grammar, just let it flow. Continue without lifting the pen.

Always finish the exercise by trying to name three things you are proud of and 3 positive qualities you used to achieve this.
